Campaign Story
Commemorative plaque in Eastchurch commemorating the arrival of 2,000 Polish pilots to the base in Eastchurch during the Second World War and their contribution to the defense of Great Britain.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the creation of the RAF. One of the glorious pages of RAF’s history was the training of pilots of various nationalities. Among the pilots of various nations who sacrificed their lives in the fight for peace, the largest group were Poles. More than 2,000 volunteers came to Eastchurch to sit behind the controls of British aircraft after training. Their fate varied. Some died in the first encounters with the enemy. Others have shown many shots. British society wants to commemorate their sacrifice by donating a commemorative plaque and supporting the Aviation Museum in Eastchurch.
